This site on North Bank in the Village of Haydon Bridge was purchased as a bare site with Planning consent for one large dwelling. We were under the opinion that the dwelling that had been proposed for the site was, while a good enough design, not right for the site. Also, we felt that we could quite easily accomodate two four bedroom semi-detached dwellings. The scheme was designed to look like a traditional northumbrian farmhouse with a barn atached that had been converted to a dwelling. The scheme was designed using many traditonal design features using natural stone from a local quarry for the heads & cills, quoins, water tables and kickers. The dwellings were constructed in traditional coursed randon rubble and used timber frames for the bespoke screens and double glazed windows. The two dwellings enjoy fantastic views over the tyne valley, so we designed in as large a glass area as possible to the south elevation which houses the lounges in both dwellings. The construction of both of these dwellings are now complete and have been sold to private purchasers.
