Long Close is a development of 21 two bedroom apartments in the center of the historic
market town of Hexham. The site is entered through an archway in block A, leading into
a landscaped courtyard facing onto block B. Block A houses 9 dwellings while block B
houses 12. The site is set in mature grounds with trees lining the North & West elevations, while
the South & East elevations enjoy fantastic views over the town of Hexham and the surrounding hills
of the Tyne Valley.

The development will be finished to the highest standards, the external materials being
matched to those in the surrounding conservation area. The Tyrone "Navan" brick has the feel
of being a hand made brick while incorporating many of the colours of the area including
reds, pinks, charcoals and biscuit. The heads, cills, mullions and archways are to be formed
using locally quarried natural stone, while the roof covering will be of natural grey slate.
Internally, the apartments have been designed to be spacious and light using the very best
in materials and finishings. Each dwelling will enjoy a high specification, fully fitted Kitchen
with finishes to the choice of the customer. The bathroom and en-suite will be fully finished to
the highest standard, using light, contemporary designs with chrome fittings. All windows will be
double glazed and fully factory finished in Cream and Olive Green.
Long Close is a classic example of Property Design Matters Ltd ability to take an existing site
and design a development suitable for the site and the surrounding area. The site originally held one
derelict dwelling with a large overgrown garden. We have utilised this space which enjoys
a great setting within the market town of Hexham, to produce a desirable development of 21
Flats in exceptional surroundings. The design and massing of the scheme means that while we have
greatly increased the number of dwellings on the site, we have still made sure that the
surrounding landscaping and planting has been retained, providing a natural screen for the
apartments. Our use of materials has been sympathetic to the surrounding area and the overall
feel of the scheme means that it sits within its surroundings very comfortably.
